“Today” producer Patrice Poltzer turned to her co-worker Jenna Wolfe to help resolve her post-partum body troubles. In an essay posted to Today.com, Poltzer writes about how Wolfe helped her regain the body she thought she would get easily after giving birth.

“Why didn’t anyone tell me it was going to be like this? That those three months after giving birth I would still be no closer to properly buttoning my jeans than I was on the day after I delivered?” Poltzer writes. “The magazines always showed me a different reality for a post-partum body. I felt duped.”

She turned to Wolfe, “Today’s” weekend anchor, to act as her personal trainer. “It has now been eight months since my son was born and I am definitely in a better state of mind and much nicer to myself than I was in those first few months,” Poltzer writes. She says using the gym at work and keeping track of her food has helped her regain her pre-baby body.

“While I’m definitely not back to my pre-baby weight, or shape for that matter, I feel good about the choices I am making and have a better appreciation of the amazing thing my body did,” she says. “And just like my life will certainly never go back to the way it was pre-pregnancy, my body might not either. But that, I realize, is OK.”
