Maybe Twitter should add a spoiler alert to Tom Colicchio’s account. The “Top Chef” judge tweeted the results of last night’s penultimate episode of “Top Chef Masters” immediately as the episode ended on the East Coast.
If you’re planning to catch up on “Top Chef Masters” later, you’ll probably want to stop reading now.
Colicchio tweeted “Congratulations to my friends Kerry Heffernan and Chris Cosentino for making it to the finale of Top Chef Masters” at 10:59 p.m. ET.
Most entertainment sites, including Zap2it, try to be sensitive about spoiling reality show results on social media. In the age of timeshifting and DVRs, not everyone watches live. But Colicchio clearly was excited about the outcome. “Top Chef Masters” viewers know from an episode that aired earlier this season that Colicchio and Heffernan are especially close: Colicchio was both best man and caterer at Heffernan’s wedding.
The results of last night’s final three challenge between Heffernan, Cosentino and Lorena Garcia came down to the wire. Garcia has been a bit of an underdog all season long, but she had a fierce defender during the elimination judging in James Oseland. He went head to head with fellow judge Ruth Reichl on whether Garcia or Cosentino oversaw the better dish in a challenge that relied on culinary school students to execute the hands on work.
Ultimately, it was Garcia who had to pack her knives and go. But if you read Colicchio’s Twitter feed before you saw the episode, you already knew that. Something tells us he’ll be a little more careful about commenting on next week’s finale.
