acm awards 2013 ratings TV ratings: ACM Awards rise and give CBS a big Sunday winFast National ratings for Sunday, April 7, 2013

The Academy of Country Music Awards were pretty much the only game in town on the broadcast networks Sunday night, and CBS scored a big win as a result.

The awards were up a bunch over last year’s telecast, growing by 2 million-plus viewers and more than a point in the 18-49 demographic. CBS had more viewers and a better 18-49 rating than the combined totals for ABC, FOX and NBC.

Sunday’s only other new episodes were “All-Star Celebrity Apprentice” on NBC, which was flat vs. last week, and “The Cleveland Show” on FOX, which did OK following a “Family Guy” rerun.

CBS averaged 13.9 million viewers and an 8.4 rating/14 share in households in primetime, far and away the best showing of the night. NBC (3.7 million, 2.4/4) was the best of the rest, beating ABC (3.3 million, 2.1/3) by about 400,000 viewers. FOX trailed with 2.8 million viewers and a 1.6/3.

The Eye also dominated the adults 18-49 demographic with a 3.6 rating. FOX finished a distant second at 1.3, edging NBC’s 1.2. ABC put up a 0.7.
