2014 olympics feb 13 rtgs TV ratings: 'American Idol' steady Thursday, Olympics rise a littleFast National ratings for Thursday, Feb. 13, 2014

The Winter Olympics gave NBC another dominant ratings win Thursday, as the network’s coverage improved a bit on Wednesday’s numbers. Overall, the games are running a bit behind the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver — as expected when the games are staged outside North America.

“American Idol” held up fairly well opposite the Olympics, as the unveiling of the 30 semifinalists was off only a tenth of a point in adults 18-49 vs. last week. “Rake” was also steady (if low) for FOX. The night’s only other original show was “The Taste” on ABC, which was down from a week ago.

NBC delivered 22.9 million viewers and a 13.4 rating/21 share in households for the night. CBS (7.02 million, 4.3/7) narrowly beat FOX (6.96 million, 4.2/6) for second place in viewers. ABC came in fourth with 2.8 million viewers and a 1.8/3, and The CW (1.05 million, 0.7/1) brought up the rear.

The 18-49 title went to NBC as well — its 5.9 rating was up a few tenths from Wednesday’s showing. FOX took second with a 2.0. CBS’ 1.6 was good for third, while both ABC (0.8) and The CW (0.3) fell below the 1.0 mark.
