greg kinnear rake preview fox TV ratings: 'Rake' premiere OK; 'Vampire Diaries' up for 100th episodeFast National ratings for Thursday, Jan. 23, 2014

New Greg Kinnear dramedy “Rake” premiered on FOX to OK numbers, but it was up against reruns on CBS and lost over 40 percent of viewers from its “American Idol” lead in. “Idol” also dipped slightly from last Thursday’s performance.

Elsewhere, “The Vampire Diaries” aired its 100th episode and saw a rise in viewership over its last two new episodes.

Despite not having two hours of “Idol,” FOX still won the night with 9.6 million viewers and a 5.8 rating/9 share in households. CBS’ reruns were close behind, however, with 8.8 million viewers and a 5.5/9. The rest of the networks trailed by quite a bit: ABC was third (3.9 million, 2.7/4), NBC fourth (3.2 million, 2.2/3) and The CW fifth (2.2 million, 1.4/2).

In the adults 18-49 demo, FOX’s 2.5 won easily, followed by CBS (1.9), ABC (1.1), NBC (1.0) and The CW (0.9).
