office goodbye michael2 TV ratings: 'The Office' rises with Steve Carell's departure; FOX tops ThursdayFast National ratings for Thursday, April 28, 2011

Steve Carell‘s final episode of “The Office” brought the show a bit of a ratings bump Thursday, but otherwise it was a not-very-impressive start to sweeps for the broadcast networks. “American Idol” dipped a bit, and new episodes of “Grey’s Anatomy,” “The Big Bang Theory” and “CSI” were all below their season averages.

(Since “The Office” ended at the odd time of 9:52 p.m. ET, we won’t have exact viewership figures until later in the day. The numbers below for the 9:30-10 p.m. slot also include the first few minutes of “Parks and Recreation.”)

FOX led the night with 14.4 million viewers and an 8.6 rating/14 share in households. CBS (11 million, 6.9/11) came in second overall. ABC (8 million, 5.3/8) came in third, followed by NBC (5.3 million, 3.2/5). The CW trailed with 2.2 million viewers and a 1.4/2.

The adults 18-49 title also went to FOX, which scored a 4.2 rating in the demographic. CBS and NBC tied for second at 2.5, while ABC was not far behind at 2.3. The CW earned a 0.9.
