x factor khloe kardashian fifth harmony mario lopez finale fox TV ratings: 'X Factor' Season 2 finale rises, still down from Season 1There was good news and bad news for the Season 2 finale of FOX’s “The X Factor.” The music competition posted its highest overall audience and 18-49 demo ratings since the early October bootcamp rounds, but the numbers were still down from last season’s already soft ratings.

The 9.65 million total viewers and 3.1 rating in 18-49 was good enough to rank “The X Factor” #1 for the night in 18-49 and give FOX the lead in both categories. But the most watched show of the evening was a rerun of “The Big Bang Theory” that drew 10.9 million viewers.

“The X Factor” came close to that in its final half hour of a two-hour live results show, hitting 10.8 million viewers. It faced minimal competition from reruns on NBC, CBS and CW and holiday specials on ABC and NBC.

Last season, “The X Factor” finale posted a 3.8 in 18-49. Adding insult to injury, earlier this week “The Voice” Season 3 finale was its most-watched and highest-rated in 18-49 yet.

FOX has already renewed “The X Factor” for Season 3, but more changes behind and in front of the camera are likely to follow judge L.A. Reid’s announcement he won’t be returning.

“X Factor” drove FOX to the lead in the total-viewer race with 9.65 million, along with an 5.6 rating/9 share in households. CBS (8.7 million, 5.4/9) followed, with ABC’s 6.6 million viewers and 4.1/7 behind. NBC came in fourth with 4.9 million viewers and a 3.2/5, and The CW had 930,000, 0.6/1.

The adults 18-49 title also went to FOX, which earned a 3.1 rating in the demo. No other network broke a 2.0, as CBS (1.9) led ABC (1.4), NBC (1.1) and CW (0.3).
