– Max Greenfield — the man who plays Schmidt on “New Girl” — will be hopping forward half an hour to guest-star on “The Mindy Project” in an upcoming episode. Greenfield will play Lee, described as a hot guy and a player at a bar. The episode is scheduled to air Tuesday, April 22. [E! Online]

– CBS’ summer thriller “Under the Dome” has added two new series regulars. Eddie Cahill (“CSI: New York”) is set to play Sam, Big Jim’s (Dean Norris) brother-in-law and former EMT, while Karla Crome (above) is making her U.S. TV debut as Rebecca, a beautiful teacher who is “quite forceful” and will cause some heat for Big Jim. “The Exes” has been renewed for a 12-episode fourth season, which will debut this summer. TV Land president Larry W. Jones says in a statement, “From the moment we read the very first script for ‘The Exes,’ we fell in love. This series has a comedy ensemble that’s a force to be reckoned with, and it just keeps getting better and better.” “The Exes” airs Wednesday nights at 10 p.m. ET/PT on TV Land.

– HLN has canceled its entertainment-news show “Showbiz Tonight” after nine years on the air. The final show is set to air Thursday; host A.J. Hammer will remain with HLN to cover the entertainment business. [TVNewser]

– Just after landing Scott Bakula for its lead, “NCIS: New Orleans” has continued to beef up its cast. The backdoor pilot, CBS’ latest “NCIS” spinoff effort which will debut during a special episode of its parent show this spring, has added CCH Pounder and Zoe McLellan to the mix. Pounder (“Sons of Anarchy”) will play the eccentric Dr. Wade, Jefferson Parish’s worldly and intuitive medical examiner, while McLellan (“JAG”) will portray Special Agent Brody, a transplant from the Midwest who has come to New Orleans for a fresh start. Ryan Phillippe is making a move to TV. The “I Know What You Did Last Summer” star is in final talks to play the lead in the ABC drama pilot “Secrets & Lies.” An adaptation of an Australian crime mystery series, “Secrets & Lies” centers on a family man (Phillippe) who becomes the prime suspect in the
murder of a young boy when he finds the body. With no choice but to
try and find the real killer, he finds his marriage, kids, reputation,
and sanity all at stake. Phillippe previously did a season-long arc on “Damages.” [Deadline]

– Get ready for more Adult Swim. Turner Broadcasting has revealed it will be expanding the popular programming block by one hour, extending further into primetime. The block will take over the 8 p.m. hour beginning March 31. At the onset, the 8 p.m. hour will be occupied by two back-to-back episodes of “King of the Hill,” followed by an episode of “The Cleveland Show” at 9 p.m. The programming will act as a “tonal bridge” from the family-friendly Cartoon Network shows to the more mature, more outre Adult Swim fare.
