julia-louis-dreyfus-veep-GQ.jpgFunnywoman Julia Louis-Dreyfus, the Emmy-winning star of HBO’s “Veep,” is gracing the pages of GQ as part of a story where the magazine chose the 15 funniest comedians in show business right now. Inside the issue, she poses for a funny (or frightening, depending on how you feel about clowns) photo spread where she hits up the circus and has an affair with one of the seltzer bottle-wielding, floppy shoe-wearing faithful.

She also talks about her character on “Veep,” titular vice president Selina Meyer, who is now starting her second presidential run (the first happened before the events of the series began in Season 1).

“When you lose your moral center, it’s easy to get pissed off,” says Louis-Dreyfus of the vice president. “Selina has been eaten by the machine, but also, she is the machine. She’s a mangled, bloodied, pulpy working mess.”

She does add, however, that Selina’s anger and dysfunction are not a product of her own neuroses. “I don’t have a s***-ton of baggage,” says Louis-Dreyfus. “There’s not some grotesque, dark thing.”

“Veep” airs Sundays at 10:30 p.m. ET/PT on HBO. The comedy issue of GQ hits newsstands on Tuesday, April 29.
