5 Seconds of Summer, the Australian pop-rock band taking the United States by storm, have officially arrived. The group made its first-ever VMA appearance at the 2014 MTV Video Music Awards, with a performance of single “Amnesia.”
The band didn’t rely on elaborate light shows, lasers or skimpy outfits. Instead, the four members let their music speak for them, which won over the live crowd.
The band also won the VMA for Best Lyric Video for “Amnesia” during the pre-show. You can see the performance above.

Chris E. Hayner is equal parts nerd, crazy person and coffee. He watches too much TV, knows more about pro wrestling than you do and remembers every single show from the TGIF lineup. You may have seen him as a pro-shark protester in "Sharknado 3." His eventual memoir will be called "You're Wrong, Here's Why..." TV words to live by: "I'm a firm believer that sometimes it's right to do the wrong thing."
