The pilot episode of Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s series on Pivot, “HITRECORD ON TV,” has arrived, and just as the commercials promised, it’s a whole new kind of variety show.
The series will feature collaborative works from Levitt’s HitRECord website, from short films to musical performances, and more. The first episode, “RE: The Number One,” has audience interaction, interviews, animated shorts and an original song by Levitt and his fellow collaborators. Levitt is on piano and vocals, further proving he can more or less do anything.
“HITRECORD ON TV” premieres Jan. 18 at 10 p.m. ET on Pivot.

Chris E. Hayner is equal parts nerd, crazy person and coffee. He watches too much TV, knows more about pro wrestling than you do and remembers every single show from the TGIF lineup. You may have seen him as a pro-shark protester in "Sharknado 3." His eventual memoir will be called "You're Wrong, Here's Why..." TV words to live by: "I'm a firm believer that sometimes it's right to do the wrong thing."
