Check out the official Comic-Con 2014 footage of “Mad Max: Fury Road,” the update of the popular trilogy from the late ’70s/early ’80s. “Fury Road” picks up shortly after the events of the original “Mad Max.”

The movie is directed by George Miller, the man behind the original “Mad Max” movies, and stars Tom Hardy (“Inception”) as the titular character, buffeted by Charlize Theron, Nicholas Hoult, Zoe Kravitz, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Riley Keough and Hugh Keys-Byrne.

At the 2014 Comic-Con panel, Miller says they planned the movie out like a comic book, instead of doing a traditional screenplay. The comic book feel is readily apparent in the trailer.

was determined not to do conventional thing and do screenplay, so we boarded whole thing like a comic book, with 3500 panels –
there aren’t many words, people only speak when they have to and I
wanted to tell the story in pictures,” says Miller.

“Mad Max: Fury Road” hits theaters May 15, 2015.
