Coming to FX later this month is “Fargo,” the small screen adaptation of the Coen brothers’ Oscar-winning 1996 movie. But if you can’t wait two weeks, FX has released the first seven minutes of the pilot episode. Watch above.

The title cards inform viewers that the series is based on true events that happened in Minnesota in 2006. The same title cards appear in the movie version, though the year in the movie is 1987. The DVD of the movie reveals that the movie is based on a Connecticut husband who murdered his wife in 1986.

The series has the same core themes and ideas as the movie, but it will not follow the plot exactly and will feature new characters and events.

What did you think of the first seven minutes? “Fargo” premieres Tuesday, April 15 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on FX.
