pink aerial lip syncing grammys 2014 gi Why Pink performing at the 2014 Oscars is awesome

It was announced Friday (Feb. 21) that Pink was going to be performing at the 86th Annual Academy Awards telecast on March 2 (otherwise known as the Oscars.) Pink fans everywhere said “cool!” and then, “Huh … OK.”
Not that we don’t want Pink to perform. She’s amazing, and no, she’s not lip-synching ever ever, you jaded haters, even when she’s spinning over your heads. But she’s not usually associated with movies (even though she did appear in the 2013 ensemble drama “Thanks for Sharing.”) And the Oscars aren’t usually inviting pop stars on to perform when they don’t have a nominated song or something specifically movie-related. The Oscars aren’t the more laid-back Golden Globes. This is Hollywood’s biggest night.
Oscar show producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron invited her to perform because, as they say in the announcement, “She is regarded as one of the greatest voices in pop music and one of the best performers of her generation, and we are thrilled to have her join us for a highly anticipated moment on the broadcast.”
“Highly anticipated moment”: We can only assume that Pink is going to perform her acrobatics over the heads of Hollywood’s stunt-double-using elite, because at this point, anything less than that isn’t “highly anticipated” anymore. And besides, she’s so amazing while doing it that it doesn’t compute (and then people start yelling “lip-synching”). Any chance for Pink to perform for the masses is a good thing, and obviously, the Oscar producers realize that too. This is a big deal.

Pink herself gives us no clues as to what she’s going to be doing:

And while host Ellen DeGeneres says she doesn’t know either, she’s taking no chances:

We’ll just have to wait and see, but we’re happy that the tattooed queen of abs and bada**ery has been invited.
