For her first live show “X Factor” performance, Melanie Amaro was given the enormous song choice of Whitney Houston’s classic “I Have Nothing” by mentor Simon Cowell. What did you think?

We were nervous for her, this is a huge song. Many have tried, many have failed on “Idol” on this one – which is actually why we were surprised Simon chose it. But she did well! We don’t think it was best of the night (Drew gets that vote), but that’s just personal preference.

It seemed a little like she was reaching for the high notes. Maybe the song should’ve just been a step or two lower? What did you think, “X Factor” fans?
