The first trailer for Zach Braff’s Kickstarter-funded “Garden State” follow-up, “Wish I Was Here,” is just as emotionally charged as his directorial debut. From The Shins’ “Simple Song” playing over the trailer to the film’s gorgeous cinematography, it’s clear Braff put the $3.1 million he raised for the project to good use.

“Wish I Was Here” debuted at Sundance, and is being distributed by Focus Features with a July 18 release date. The flick stars Braff as Aiden Bloom, a “struggling actor, father, and husband is trying to find the purpose of his life at the age of 35.” Also in the film are Kate Hudson, Joey King, Mandy Patinkin, Anna Kendrick, Jim Parsons and Josh Gad.

What do you think of the first “Wish I Was Here” trailer?
