Zoe Saldana is quickly emerging as an action hero, or, as the latest GQ story calls her, “the a**-kickingest female star since Angelina Jolie.” But, as she tells the mag, she’s not all fight. “I was a feminine tomboy.
I had my plastic swords, my ninja stars–but I still wore lipstick,” she says.
Saldana stars as an assassin with a penchant for lollipops in the upcoming “Colombiana,” and she says that after filming wrapped, she had some trouble ditching her character. Recently, she was out dancing when a fight broke out in the club.
“I knew exactly what I was going to do,” she says. “Kick this door, grab
this, move that guy out of the way. Then I started laughing: Oh, my
God, I still have Cataleya in my system.”
After this role, she’s choosing quieter parts for a while, with less butt-kicking but just as much girl power. “It gets pretty boring when all you are is the support system for a male
character,” she says. “I want to be in the small percentage
of women who don’t settle for conventional roles.”
