The network announced it is adapting James Patterson’s “Zoo” into a 13-episode series set to air during the summer of 2015.

“Zoo” is a thriller about a young biologist who must solve the mystery surrounding a wave of violent animal attacks against humans throughout the world. The No. 1 New York Times bestseller was originally published in September 2012.

Patterson will executive produce the project, along with Jeff Pinkner (“Fringe”), “Star-Crossed’s” Josh Appelbaum and Andre Nemec and Scott Rosenberg (“Life on Mars”), who all wrote the script. James Mangold, Cathy Konrad, Bill Robinson, Leopoldo Gout and Steve Bowen are also EPs.

“‘Zoo’ further demonstrates our commitment to high-quality, year-round programming and to high-concept series that play to summer audiences in the U.S. as well as on a global scale,” CBS Entertainment chairman Nina Tassler says in a statement, calling the series “another summer blockbuster event.”
