Actress Anna Paquin is no fan of online body shaming trolls. A photo of Paquin with her husband and former “True Blood” costar Stephen Moyer at the red carpet for Pixar’s “The Good Dinosaur,” in which Paquin voices a character, apparently disgruntled Internet commenters to the point that they were openly speculating about her gaining weight or potentially being pregnant.
But Paquin was having none of that.
“Fun fact: Wearing a dress that is not skintight=Pregnant/invites people 2 call u fat. I’m neither so thanks 4 that,” Paquin sarcastically writes on Twitter underneath the photo.
Obviously, the Internet is off base on this one — Paquin looks just as gorgeous (and not-fat) as she usually does. But like other actresses, she’s decided to take a stand to point out the outrageous beauty standards that actresses and other women are expected to live up to.
Other women are chiming in, responding with just as much shock that so many people had criticized Paquin’s perfectly inoffensive look, even sharing other examples of when they were subject to equally ignorant/offensive comments.
One even jokes about Paquin changing her profile pic to her orange “Good Dinosaur” character.
In the end, Paquin is grateful for the support, but promises that she wasn’t “compliment fishing” — just furious at the idea of the body shaming.
