Bindi Irwin’s dad Steve, The Crocodile Hunter, died a little over nine years ago after being stung by a stingray; Bindi was just eight years old at the time. Sunday (Nov. 15) was “Steve Irwin Day” in Australia and to honor her late father, the “Dancing With the Stars” contestant posted a loving tribute to him on Instagram.

“The greatest Dad on Earth. November 15. Steve Irwin Day. Remembering everything Dad worked so hard to achieve and continuing his legacy,” writes Bindi. “We miss you so much and are extremely proud to be carrying on in your footsteps.”

“Yesterday we celebrated #SteveIrwinDay in Australia. Today, let’s celebrate together on the other side of the world, today on November 15. Thank you for joining us in making a difference. Wearing our khakis and remember everything Dad did to change the world.”

Earlier on Season 21 of “DWTS,” Bindi and partner Derek Hough performed an emotional contemporary dance to honor her father that judge Julianne Hough called “breathtaking.”

“That was a tribute to your father and we know that you should be very proud, but he is very proud too,” said Julianne at the time.
