The world lost a great artist Thursday (April 21) when the man known as Prince was found dead in his Minnesota home. All manner of tributes have been pouring in, from social media remembrances to a huge Prince celebration in downtown Minneapolis to the Google Doodle going purple in honor of his musical majesty — they’re everywhere.

Two of the best ones we’ve seen so far are from the Great White Way. Both the Broadway casts of “Hamilton” and “The Color Purple” took time after their shows Thursday night to honor the late artist.

Lin-Manuel Miranda led the “Hamilton” cast in a rousing rendition of “Let’s Go Crazy,” while Jennifer Hudson took center stage at “The Color Purple” to talk about a special moment she once shared with Prince, then star Cynthia Erivo leads the cast and audience in a rendition of “Purple Rain” that will bring tears to your eyes. J-Hud joins Erivo on the second verse and it’s … goosebumps. That is all.

Somewhere, Prince is enjoying the heck out of all the celebrations of his life and music.
