Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield have reportedly called it quits.
A source tells People that the couple has “been apart while filming. They still care about each other.”
Stone and Garfield already survived one round of breakup rumors earlier in 2015. Garfield was overseas in Thailand filming “Silence” with Martin Scorsese while Stone made the award show red carpet circuit for “Birdman” solo.
Those rumors died down after the actress was seen carrying a bag of clothes for Garfield and the couple reunited in Los Angeles once “Silence” production completed.
“See, I never talk about this stuff for this exact reason — because it’s all so speculative and baseless,” Stone told The Wall Street Journal in June. “Once you start responding — once you’re like, ‘No, that’s not true’ — then they’re like, ‘Well, if we push enough, we’ll get a comment, so let’s see what else we can make up.’ I understand the interest in it completely,” she adds, “because I’ve had it, too. But it’s so special to me that it never feels good to talk about, so I just continually don’t talk about it.”
The new round of rumors comes as work once again puts the couple on opposite sides of the planet. Stone just wrapped shooting on “LaLa Land” with Ryan Gosling in Los Angeles while Garfield is in Australia filming the Mel Gibson WWII drama “Hacksaw Ridge.”
“They still have love for one another. They are on good terms with each other and remain close,” People’s source adds.
Stone and Garfield were last seen together in Los Angeles in August before he left for Australia.
