Iggy Azalea and Britney Spears at the 2015 Billboard Music Awards

Iggy Azalea can’t seem to go very long without putting her foot in her mouth. The latest kerfuffle happened on Twitter when a fan observed that “Pretty Girls,” Azalea’s collaboration with Britney Spears, has flopped a little but Azalea’s fans don’t care because it’s the “summer anthem of 2015.”

Instead of just taking the back-handed compliment and moving on, Azalea cited the lack of promotion for the song as to why it hasn’t been a bigger hit. “its difficult to send a song up the charts without addition promo and tv performances etc. unfortunately im just featured…” she writes on Twitter, followed by “i would have enjoyed performing it alot, i think it got off to a powerful start. but you need content to compete in 2015.”

When Spears fans jumped on Azalea, she defended her opinion. “my comment is factual, it applies to any song. I dont have to suck the womans a**hole 24/7 to be her friend, do i? bye girls.” Azalea writes. She later adds, “Genuine friends have genuine opinions. Its possible & healthy to have a differing thought without it being bitchy or shade. Im suspect on anyone who agrees with me ALL of the time; because i know i dont get it right 100% of the time.”

Whether Azalea is right or not, Britney did not appreciate being thrown under the bus. She hasn’t directed anything at Azalea specifically, but she did post this in the middle of the Twitter dust-up between her fans and the hip hop artist:

Spears’ comment is perhaps a reference to Azalea’s Great Escape tour cancellation earlier this year.
