At the Soul Train Awards on Nov. 29, Erykah Badu joked about which musicians would and wouldn’t be allowed to compete at the awards, which have a strict no-rap policy. Badu pretended to take a phone call from Azalea, joking “You can come, because what you do is definitely not rap.” The joke got a big laugh, but according to her reaction on Twitter, Azalea didn’t think it was funny.
“We are days from 2016, but I came online today and saw its still cool to try and discredit my 2014 accomplishments. LOL,” she writes.
She wished her fans a good holiday season, and then shared some updates about what she’s been doing personally and professionally since she went silent over the past month (her last Twitter update was on Nov. 1).
According to Azalea, she has music on the way, but her contract with a U.K. label is conflicting with the work she wants to be doing with Def Jam. But it seems as though her goal is to work on having another album released in 2016.
But unfortunately, she’s been dealing with some personal issues in the meantime. Azalea says that her horse might have Lyme disease so she’s been working on finding out what’s going on.
Even though Azalea didn’t officially promise that she’s swearing off Twitter, she did tell her followers that she wouldn’t be updating her page unless something major — like another shady comment from Badu — breaks between now and January 2016.
