Jon Hamm Jennifer Westfeldt

It’s over for longtime couple Jon Hamm and Jennifer Westfeldt. The pair confirmed they’ve ended their relationship on Monday (Sept. 7).

“With great sadness, we have decided to separate, after 18 years of love and shared history,” they tells People in a joint statement. “We will continue to be supportive of each other in every way possible moving forward.”

Hamm, 44, and Westfeldt, 45, began dating in 1997. There were rumors they had split in April, a couple months after Hamm entered rehab for alcohol abuse, but at the time they denied a breakup.

“The story that appeared in this week’s edition of In Touch magazine is not true,” Hamm’s rep told Us Weekly at the time. “The only gentleman Jennifer visited regularly in Connecticut was Jon, while he was in rehab. They continue to ask for the public’s understanding and sensitivity during this challenging time.”

After Hamm completed his treatment in March, Hamm’s publicity team released a statement that read: “With the support of his longtime partner Jennifer Westfeldt, Jon Hamm recently completed treatment for his struggle with alcohol addiction. They have asked for privacy and sensitivity going forward.”

During the course of their 18-year relationship, they starred together in the 2011 comedy “Friends With Benefits.” They last appeared together publicly on July 22 at the New York premiere of “Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp.”
