Kelly Osbourne had some choice words for her former “Fashion Police” co-host Giuliana Rancic at the 4th Annual NYX FACE Awards in L.A. Sunday (Aug. 23).
When asked about “Fashion Police’s” return, which is being retooled in the wake of the Zendaya comments, Osbourne tells TheWrap she hopes the show is successful. But she definitely hasn’t reversed her position on Rancic. “I will never admit to liking Giuliana because I don’t. I don’t think she’s a good person and I think she’s a liar,” Osbourne says, adding later that she’d consider returning to the show “if certain people weren’t there.”
“Do you know why? Because of people like Giuliana Rancic,” says Osbourne, of the negative responses she received to her comments.
She goes on to say that her toilet-cleaning comment about Latinos is not the same as Rancic’s Zendaya comments.
“Don’t blame me for other people’s mistakes. I wasn’t edited,” says Osbourne. “It wasn’t a premeditated attack. And if I watched it, I would hate me too. So I have no problem, and I would do whatever I have to, to make it right. But don’t compare me to her.”
Howeer, Osbourne then says her “View” segment was significantly edited — but she’s not using that as an excuse.
“You can see that they cut me off. You only saw a 6-second clip. When you watch the full episode, it’s a different story,” says Osbourne. “But I’m not going to make up excuses because I don’t need to. I know who I am.”
The falling out between Rancic and Osbourne began over Rancic’s insensitive comments about Zendaya’s dreadlocks at the 2015 Academy Awards, when the “Fashion Police” quipped that the Disney star probably “smells like patchouli oil or weed.”
Osbourne was quick to distance herself from the comments, tweeting at the time that Zendaya is a friend of hers, that she doesn’t “condone racism” and that Rancic’s comment had her seriously considering leaving the show. And leave the show she did, though the rumor was that the difficulties extended farther back than the Zendaya comments.
Either way, “Fashion Police” returns Monday, Aug. 31 following the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards. Melissa Rivers and Brad Goreski will join Rancic on the E! fashion commentary show.
