Kesha is celebrating her 29th birthday on Tuesday (March 1), and among the many sending her special messages to celebrate is Lady Gaga, who tweeted, “May you get EVERYTHING you want and more.”
The note comes as Kesha is attempting to get out of a record contract that forces her to work with Dr. Luke — a man she claims to have sexually assaulted her when she was 18. The birthday greeting comes after Kesha sent her own message of support to Gaga, whose Oscars performance shed a light on rape.
“Thank u @ladygaga and VP @JoeBiden for bringing attention to sexual assault at the oscars,” she tweeted. “It hit very close to my heart for obvious reasons.” Not long after that message, Dr. Luke’s lawyer Christine Lepera went on the offensive, telling TMZ, “Ms. Sebert [Kesha], who in sworn videotaped testimony from 2011 stated that she had never been sexually abused or drugged by Dr. Luke is neither a victim nor the appropriate person to be held up as an example for this important issue.”
Kesha alleges the record producer threatened her into denying she was every drugged or assaulted.
As for where the case between Kesha and her record company stands now, a judge has denied the singer’s preliminary injunction against Dr. Luke on Feb. 19.
