Lena Dunham recently graced the cover of El Pais Tentaciones magazine, looking very beautiful and very slim — something Dunham is less than pleased with.

In an angry Instagram photo of the cover, Dunham posted a quick rant about being retouched to look thinner. “This is NOT what my body has ever looked like or will ever look like- the magazine has done more than the average photoshop,” she writes.

The magazine responded quickly, making a public statement denying any retouching. El Pais Tentaciones claim the photographer and Dunham’s publicist approved the photo themselves, and they even sent Dunham the uncropped photo from the shoot to shed some light on how they achieved the slim-down.

Dunham posted the original photo with more commentary, this time less sure as to the extent of the photoshopping, but still keeping her body positive message.

“It’s a weird feeling to see a photo and not know if it’s your own body anymore (and I’m pretty sure that will never be my thigh width but I honestly can’t tell what’s been slimmed and what hasn’t.)” Dunham says. “I wanna live in this wild world and play the game and get my work seen, and I also want to be honest about who I am and what I stand for.”
