Netflix’s “Making a Murderer” defense attorney Jerry Buting will be penning a book on American jurisprudence. Announced by the Associated Press, “Jerome Buting has a deal with HarperCollins Publishers for a book being released next year. The book will be released through the Harper imprint.”
Buting’s book will not only cover the case the Netflix docu-series famously covered, in which Steven Avery was convicted of murdering photographer Teresa Halbach in 2005 and was sentenced to life in prison without parole, but will include details on the lawyer’s 35-year career and discuss the “dysfunction” of the criminal justice system.
Once the book news was released on Monday (March 7) Buting took to his Twitter account to give fans more details.
“I think I have a lot to say that transcends the Avery case,” Buting says to Action 2 News in an interview.
He went on to say that there are “issues that came up in the Steven Avery trial that a lot of people think are unique to that case,” except they are “far from unique and happen all too often.”
Buting’s book is expected to be released in 2017.
