Angela Raiola, better known as “Big Ang” on VH1’s reality series “Mob Wives,” has died at the age of 55 on Thursday (Feb. 18) after battling with stage 4 cancer.

After a lemon-sized tumor was removed from Raiola’s throat in March 2015, another tumor of equal size was discovered in December. Since then, the cancer spread from her throat to her lungs and brain.

On Feb. 3, the Raiola family started a GoFundMe account to assist with medical costs which raised roughly $45,000 in two weeks’ time.

Raiola appeared on “The Dr. Oz Show” late in 2015 to discuss her battle with cancer and explain why she parted ways with her husband, Neil Murphy. “I felt like he never stepped up to the plate, so I was done with it,” she says. “Now, it’s too late. I would rather be by myself. I would rather be alone.”

Ang goes on in the clip to express gratitude towards her children: “If it wasn’t for them, how would I get through this?” Raiola is survived by her sister, Janine Detore, her children Raquel and Anthony Donfrio, and six grandchildren.
