Rapper Busta Rhymes has been arrested for assault allegations following a gym fight in NYC Wednesday (Aug. 5).
CBS 2 News reports the entertainer whose real name is Trevor Tahiem Smith Jr. got into an altercation with another patron of a Chelsea gym. There he allegedly threw a container of Lean Body Protein drinks at the victim, who needed medical attention at the scene.
Police reportedly arrested Rhymes at about 8:30 p.m. and charged him with second degree assault. The fight between the two is said to have begun the previous day when Rhymes was told he wasn’t allowed to film his workout routine in the facility.
Rhymes was taken into custody and released early Thursday morning (Aug. 6). The rapper took to his Instagram posting a picture with his lawyer upon his release to assure fans he was doing okay.
“Thanks to everyone who helped expedite this evening for me,” he writes. “I’m good and we’re back to the grind. Heading 2 the studio 2 turn the bulls*** into GREATNESS. I’m super good. #THECONGLOMERATE.”
