Josh Waring, whose mother is former “Real Housewives of Orange County” star Lauri Peterson, was arrested Monday (June 20) on suspicion of attempted murder, authorities tell the LA Times.
The arrested occurred after Waring allegedly shot a man in a Costa Mesa home and fled the scene in a stolen BMW SUV.
“Apparently there had been a previous confrontation between [Waring] and the occupants of that residence earlier, and he had returned,” says Lt. Paul Beckman of the Costa Mesa police department.
The 35-year-old victim is expected to survive his injuries.
The police later located Waring and gave chase when he fled. Waring eventually crashed the SUV and attempted to flee on foot.
“After a brief standoff, he surrendered without further incident to the Santa Ana police,” say the police in a statement.
Waring was then booked on suspicion of attempted murder, vehicle theft, felony evading police, hit-and-run and assault and battery. His bail is set at $1 million.
This is not Waring’s first run-in with the law. He has previously been charged with felony counts of possession of a controlled substance, hit-and-run, battery and various misdemeanors related to drug use or possession.
In fact, Waring’s trouble with drugs is what led Peterson to leave “RHOC” in 2008, and in 2012, Peterson and her husband George adopted Waring’s daughter, Kennedy, and are raising the little girl.
Peterson told Bravo’s The Daily Dish at the time, “Hopefully [Josh and his wife] can get their lives together and be OK … this my first granddaughter and she’s precious and she’s smart and she’s beautiful and she needed somebody.”
