Actress and current “Tia Mowry At Home” cooking show host Tia Mowry is totally untroubled by online critics noticing that she’s gained some weight, and even prompting rumors that the star is pregnant. In an interview with Huffington Post Live, Mowry firmly denies those pregnancy rumors, joking about why she’s gained some weight. “I am not pregnant, I am just happy. I’ve gained these extra 10, 15 pounds because of my cooking show,” she explains.
But even though she’s comfortable with how her body looks and with firmly stating that she’s not expecting a baby, Mowry points out that women shouldn’t have to deal with constant scrutiny about their bodies.
She also echoes what many other women have said — that in making beauty such a narrowly defined concept, it makes it hard for women larger than a size 2 to feel good about their bodies. “We need to be more supportive with body images, especially with women, showing that all sizes are beautiful,” Mowry explains.
“We live in a society that is so obsessed with being perfect,” she says. But she suggests that perhaps a little empathy and acceptance could be enough to change things. “We all need to be a little more supportive of each other. I think if we start there, we’ll see a difference.”
