Some people may know actress Tracee Ellis Ross from her work on hit shows like “Black-ish” and “Girlfriends,” or that she was Kanye West’s neighbor for a time and he name-dropped her in a couple of his songs, or that she is the daughter of music legend Diana Ross and music manager Robert Ellis Silberstein.

It is the latter of those three excellent Ellis Ross factoids that is making headlines Monday (Aug. 24), because Ross decided to pay tribute to her dear ol’ mom by recreating Diana Ross’ 1981 “Work Your Body” music video in truly charming fashion.

In a blog post on her website, Tracee Ross explains that the reason her mother’s original video spoke and still speaks to her is because the concept wan’t about a woman dancing, scantily-clad, to be objectified and admired. Rather, it’s about a woman enjoying and being herself.

“My mom felt whole and connected … and in her body in this video. I have spoken before about encouraging women to shift our gaze from how we are seen to how we are seeing and, more important, feeling,” writes Ross. “She seems to be saying, ‘this is ME feeling good and I am strong and sexy and joyful in ME’! So, I decided to recreate the video and try to feel the joy of being in my body while offering up tribute to my glorious mother. Hope you have as much fun watching it as I did recreating it, but most of all I hope it inspires you to find and be in the joy of your own body!”

You go, Tracee Ellis Ross! And if you haven’t heard her story about living next to Kanye West, treat yourself:
