Hogwarts castle and Quidditch field

J.K. Rowling has made Hogwarts even more magical by announcing that attending the famous school is tuition-free.

Mic News recently calculated that the price for attending the world famous school of witchcraft and wizardry from Rowling’s “Harry Potter” series would cost over $40 thousand in real dollars — if the school really existed, of course.

Two fans reached out to Rowling on Twitter to confirm this number and settle their own Potter debate. The author announced that the number was false because the Ministry of Magic covered the cost of all magical education in her Potter universe.

That means you can learn Transfiguration, Charms and Defense Against the Dark Arts without incurring crippling student debt that would last into your 40s.

Who wouldn’t toast a butterbeer to that? Probably Muggles who are still working off their college debt. Just remember that Hogwarts is always there to welcome you home.
