If you’ve been waiting for Keanu Reeves to swing a sword, this is the movie for you. The first trailer for “47 Ronin” has been released and features the “Matrix” star battling all kinds of evil, alongside his fellow samurai. That’s right, Reeves is a samurai in this, though he’s labeled as a “half-breed” by his brethren.
The movie is a fictional story about the real-life Forty-seven Ronin, a group of samurai in 18th century Japan. Reeves and his group battle all manner of otherworldly beings, from giants to dragons, in an attempt to gain vengeance for the death of their master.
Keanu delivers the lines he has in the trailer as usual, very slowly with little emotion. However, that’s not what anyone is going to this movie to see. All that really matters is the fight scenes, and if the trailer is any indication, they’re pretty good.
“47 Ronin” will be in theaters December 25, Christmas day.
