More than a year ago when “Absolutely Fabulous” creator and star Jennifer Saunders confirmed that she was writing a movie based on the BBC sitcom, she promised that her then unfinished script would include roles for “Glee’s” Chris Colfer and others.
“You know ‘Glee,’ I’ve promised Chris Colfer that he can be in it, and I’ve said it so often that now he has to be in it,” Saunders said last May.
The film’s Facebook page showed proof of the deal when it posted a photo of Colfer alongside the Saunders and “Absolutely Fabulous” co-star Joanna Lumley.
“We’re feeling totally gleeful as we welcome the wonderful Chris Colfer to the cast,” reads the post.
Colfer joins Saunders and Lumley as they reprise their roles as two drunken middle-aged women in British society. Other original cast members that will return for the film include Julia Sawalha, Jane Horrocks and June Whitfield.
“Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie” is set to be released in 2016.
