After Al Pacino abruptly dropped out of “Despicable Me 2” two months before release, Universal Pictures has found someone to give voice to the film’s villain. The co-directors, Chris Renaud and Pierre Coffin, have hired actor Benjamin Bratt to re-record Pacino’s lines, E! Online reports.
A statement from the studio said they and Pacino had agreed to part ways after ongoing “creative differences” throughout production. They thanked Pacino for his work on the film, but mentioned they looked forward to the next actor to take on the role.
“Despicable Me 2” starts Steve Carell, Kristin Wiig, Russell Brand and Miranda Cosgrove, all of whom return from the first movie. It’s set for theaters July 3
