Johnny Depp in 'Alice: Through the Looking Glass'

Alice (Mia Wakikowska) is heading back to Underland in “Alice: Through the Looking Glass” and the Mad Hatter (Johnny Depp) needs her help.

The first teaser trailer for the “Alice in Wonderland” sequel, along with a pair of posters, were unveiled at D23, showing the Mad Hatter in serious trouble. Upon arriving, Alice learns from her friends that the he’s “gone darker,” shedding the signature vibrant colors of his hair and clothing for shades of grey.

This simply won’t stand for Alice, who decided to go back in time to rescue her friend. Unfortunately, that brings her directly against the movie’s villain, Time Himself (Sasha Baron Cohen). Cohen plays time personified and isn’t someone Alice wants to tangle with. “Time is someone extremely powerful. He’s not someone you want as your enemy,” the teaser warns Alice.

While an image of Time Himself has yet to be revealed, the movie’s teaser posters give a small peek at Alice and the Mad Hatter in the movie, walking along a path of broken clocks with the tagline “It’s time for a little madness.”

“Alice: Through the Looking Glass” hits theaters May 27, 2016.
