“Ice Age: Continental Drift” is on pace for a $46 million opening weekend, according to studio estimates for Sunday. The star-studded animated feature from Fox is the only new movie in wide release the weekend of July 13-15.
“The Amazing Spider-Man” had a solid second week, earning $35 million, which brings its domestic box office to just over $200 million. Also topping the $200 million mark this weekend with its tenth-place, $3.5 million earnings, is “Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted.” “Brave” is almost there, at $195 million, after its fourth-place finish with $10.7 million.
Coming in third and fifth, respectively, are “Ted” ($22.1 million) and “Magic Mike” ($9 million). “Snow White and the Huntsman” is still playing at 600+ locations and its nearly $1 million earnings pushed it past $150 million domestically.
