“Downton Abbey’s” Laura Carmichael is heading for another period piece. The woman who plays Lady Edith has joined the cast of Sophie Barthes‘ adaptation of Gustave Flaubert’s “Madame Bovary.”

Carmichael will play the role of Henrietta, while Mia Wasikowska is portraying the title role. Also in the film are Paul Giamatti, Ezra Miller, Logan Marshall-Green, Rhys Ifans and Olivier Gourmet, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

Interestingly enough, Giamatti recently joined the cast of “Downton Abbey.” He plays Harold, the stateside brother of Lady Cora.

Filming on “Madame Bovary” is slated to begin today. No word yet on when it will hit theaters. Meanwhile, “Downton Abbey” Season 4 is currently airing in the U.K. in September and will premiere in the U.S. Jan. 5, 2014.
