Facebook founder (and subject of the new movie “The Social Network”) Mark Zuckerberg was on “The Oprah Winfrey Show” Friday (Sept. 24) alongside Newark mayor Corey Booker and New Jersey Governor Chris Christie to announce his $100 million donation to Newark schools.

The timing of the donation announcement happens to land on the same day “The Social Network” opens at the New York Film Festival, but both Zuckerberg and Oprah assure us that the timing is a coincidence. Oprah says that she and Booker had to convince Zuckerberg to come on her show instead of donating the money anonymously and that Zuckerberg and Booker were intitially going to make the announcement in early August, but couldn’t gel their schedules.
