The first TV spot for “Man of Steel” has been released. Airing during the NCAA Finals Monday (April 8), the clip is more or less a cut down version of the trailer that was released in December.
The spot focuses in on Clark Kent/Superman (Henry Cavill) wanting to know where he comes from, and how that will shape the man he becomes. Layered throughout is lots of action and destruction, along with footage of the caped hero in flight, but the sound is all muted in favor of the score and dialogue between Superman and his father, Johnathan Kent (Kevin Costner).
“Man of Steel” also stars Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Michael Shannon as General Zod, Diane Lane as Martha Kent, Russell Crowe as Jor El and Laurence Fishburne as Perry White. There’s no official word on the inclusion of Lex Luthor in the movie, but reports at the end of March made it seem like a definite possibility. “Man of Steel” flies into theaters July 14.

Chris E. Hayner is equal parts nerd, crazy person and coffee. He watches too much TV, knows more about pro wrestling than you do and remembers every single show from the TGIF lineup. You may have seen him as a pro-shark protester in "Sharknado 3." His eventual memoir will be called "You're Wrong, Here's Why..." TV words to live by: "I'm a firm believer that sometimes it's right to do the wrong thing."
