Earlier this year, film fans were stunned to learn of the circumstances surrounding an accident on the next “Resident Evil” film.
A veteran Hollywood stuntwoman and frequent body double for action-minded actresses like Milla Jovovich was in a coma and lucky to be alive after she struck a metal camera arm while driving a motorcycle for a high-speed stunt. Now, comes a sad update.
Speaking with England’s The Sun newspaper, stuntwoman Olivia Jackson has detailed the last few horrific months — and confirmed that she will have to lose her arm.
“My left arm is paralyzed and is going to have to be amputated,” she explains. “My facial scarring is horrible and I wish I had my old face. But I’m truly grateful to be alive.”
On her Facebook page, Jackson had previously updated fans on her injuries after she regained consciousness from being placed in an induced coma.
“2 weeks in a coma, brain bleed, brain swelling, severed main artery in the neck, crushed & degloved face, several broken ribs, paralyzed arm, shattered scapula, broken clavicle, broken humerus,” she listed. “Radius & ulna (arm bones), with an open wound and a 7.5 piece of bone missing, amputated thumb, torn fingers, 5 nerves torn out of the spinal cord…. not my funnest day on set.”
In addition to the “Resident Evil” films, Jackson had been a key component of stunts in such hit films as “Mad Max: Fury Road” and “Star Wars: The Force Awakens.”
