To celebrate the five-year anniversary of the release of “Hunger Games” author Suzanne Collins’ book “Mockingjay,” Lionsgate decided to mark the occasion with a release of their own, a new promotional poster for “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2.”
In order to see the full image, fans had to amass enough click-thrus to a new microsite, Squad451.TheHungerGames.movie, in order to reveal the exclusive new “Fallen Snow” banner. According to the studio, the fans rose to the occasion and the site received 11,202,015 clicks from around the world in just one hour.
Those who are familiar with “The Hunger Games” franchise will recognize this dark, foreboding image as par for the course for the film and book’s action-heavy, war-torn subject matter. “Mockingjay – Part 2” revolves around Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence), her friends and family and all of District 13 trying to unite the remaining Districts to fight against and liberate themselves from the dictatorial regime of President Snow (Donald Sutherland).
Lawrence stars alongside Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Woody Harrelson, Sam Claflin, Jena Malone, Elizabeth Banks and the late Phillip Seymour Hoffman as Plutarch Heavensbee, in one of his final performances before his death in 2014.
“The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2” hits theaters Nov. 20, 2015.
