Jennifer Lawrence has an impressive resume already, even though she’s only 24. But one thing that’s been missing from her acting work is very many sex scenes — and her experience of filming her “first real” one with Chris Pratt on the set of the upcoming film “Passengers” was incredibly awkward.
In the 2015 Hollywood Reporter Actress Roundtable, Lawrence opened up about the weirdness involved with filming an intimate scene, especially because Pratt was her first onscreen love interest to be married in real life. “It was going to be my first time kissing a married man, and guilt is the worst feeling in your stomach,” Lawrence shares with the roundtable. “And I knew it was my job, but I couldn’t tell my stomach that.”
So how did she deal with it? “I got really, really drunk,” she says, but even that didn’t really help. “That led to more anxiety when I got home because I was like, ‘What have I done? I don’t know.'”
Clearly the scene wound up turning out just fine, since the science fiction film is still set to be released in 2016, Pratt is still married to Anna Faris and Lawrence still hangs out with Pratt outside of filming — she even directed him in an Instagram video.
But even though “everything was done right” and “nobody did anything wrong,” Lawrence says she will remember the scene as one of her toughest moments as an actor. “You want to do it real, you want everything to be real, but then … That was the most vulnerable I’ve ever been.”
