The latest poster for Joss Whedon‘s black-and-white take on Shakespeare’s “Much Ado About Nothing” is likely not something the bard would have anticipated when he wrote his famous comedy. A man snorkeling with a red cocktail doesn’t exactly scream “Shakespeare,” but it is the type of thing we’ve come to expect from Whedon.
Entertainment Weekly debuted the new poster, which can be seen in its entirety below. Though this poster and the movie’s trailer do include splashes of color, Whedon confirmed at WonderCon that those additions come solely from the marketing team. “Much Ado About Nothing” is a fully black and white film.
“I love this poster,” star Alexis Denisof tells EW. “I think the image really captures the spirit of this movie. It’s amusing and unique and eye-catching. I think it was a good image to choose. This image of Fran [Kranz] in the pool with the snorkel mask and a martini glass just sums up the quirky, fun easiness this movie has.”
“Much Ado About Nothing” made its premiere at the 2012 Toronto Film Festival. It stars Whedon favorites like Denisof, Amy Acker, Nathan Fillion, Sean Maher, Fran Kranz and Clark Gregg. The movie will hit theaters on June 7.
