She may be solving mysteries while filming the “Veronica Mars” movie at the moment, but Kristen Bell doesn’t always play characters that have it all together. Her newest movie is proof of that.
“The Lifeguard,” which was shown at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival, finds Leigh (Bell) as a woman on the verge of turning 30 and in the midst of what seems like a mid-life crisis. She quits her reporter job in new York to move back in with her parents to become a lifeguard.
As she regresses into her younger self, Leigh also begins a relationship with a 16-year-old boy, while her friends try to convince her to act like the adult she is.
“The Lifeguard” also stars Martin Starr, Mamie Gummer and Amy Madigan. It’ll be released through video on demand July 30, before showing in limited theaters beginning August 30.

Chris E. Hayner is equal parts nerd, crazy person and coffee. He watches too much TV, knows more about pro wrestling than you do and remembers every single show from the TGIF lineup. You may have seen him as a pro-shark protester in "Sharknado 3." His eventual memoir will be called "You're Wrong, Here's Why..." TV words to live by: "I'm a firm believer that sometimes it's right to do the wrong thing."
