Exciting news for fans of the recently departed “Parenthood,” because a pair of its stars, Lauren Graham and Mae Whitman, will be reuniting in order to produce a film adaptation of the 2015 novel “The Royal We” for CBS Films, The Hollywood Reporter exclusively reports.
Even more exciting news — reportedly Graham will be writing the script for the film, presumably for Whitman to star in the project. This news comes almost a year after Graham received a deal for her own TV series, according to Deadline, about the first woman in late night television.
The book was written by co-authors, bloggers, and friends Jessica Morgan and Heather Cocks, who are behind the popular site The Fug Girls. Instead of their usual humorous commentary about the clothing celebrities wear to red carpet events, the writers turned their attentions to an American girl (think Stateside Kate Middleton) who manages to woo an English prince.
Both Whitman and Graham confirmed the news on Twitter. Whitman even called this project the “best thing that’s ever happened to me,” so excitement for this future film is already building.
