'The Unauthorized Beverly Hills, 90210 Story'

Lifetime has revealed the casts for their upcoming unauthorized movies based on “Beverly Hills, 90210” and “Melrose Place,” and they look almost nothing like the actual casts from those shows.

It’s not easy finding stand-ins for “90210’s” Luke Perry or “Melrose’s” Courtney Thorne-Smith, but at least Lifetime put in honest effort where one aspect of the characters is concerned. While they — and the rest of the new casts — may not look much like their counterparts, they’ve got the hair just right.

Jesy McKinney may look nothing like Dylan McKay, but he’s got that tall hair that drove fans of the show wild in the early ’90s. The rest of the cast isn’t too shabby either. The “90210” cast includes Dan Castellaneta as creator Aaron Spelling, Adam Korson as executive producer Darren Starr, Samantha Munro as Shannon Doherty, Max Lloyd-Jones as Jason Priestley, Abbie Cobb as Jennie Garth, Abby Ross as Tori Spelling, David Lennon as Ian Ziering, Michele Goins as Gabrielle Carteris, Ross Linton as Brian Austin Green and Alyssa Lynch reprising her “The Unauthorized Save By the Bell Story” role as Tiffani-Amber Thiessen.

It’s interesting that there’s no mention of Douglas Emerson, who was a regular cast member during Season 1 as Scott Scanlon.

'The Unauthorized Melrose Place Story'

Castallaneta and Korson will also play their creator and executive producers in “The Unauthorized Melrose Place Story.” They’ll be joined by Ciara Hanna as Heather Locklear, Rebecca Dalton as Courtney Thorne-Smith, Frank Bailey as Andrew Shue, Ruan Bruce as Grant Show, Chloe McClay as Josie Bissett, Ali Corbin as Daphne Zuniga, Teagan Vincze as Marcia Cross, Joseph Coleman as Doug Savant, Brandon Barash as Thomas Calabro, Karissa Tynes as Vanessa A. Williams, Chelsea Hobbs as Laura Leighton and Lanie McAuley as Amy Locane. Again, as with the “90210” cast, there’s almost no similarities to the original show beyond the hair.

“The Unauthorized Beverly Hills, 90210 Story” will premiere Saturday, Oct. 3, at 8pm ET/PT on lifetime. “The Unauthorized Melrose Place Story” will air the following weekend, Saturday, Oct. 10.
